Football Manager 2019 - Plymouth Argyle FC Team Guide

Plymouth Argyle FC

Of recent years, Plymouth have been on a rise back up the football leagues after falling from the Championship down to the bottom of league 2. This season, we begin in league 1. Finishing last year in 7th place, we are predicted to finish 20th in the table. This guide will help you with the tips and transfers you need to make to stay up this season and hopefully push on for a playoff position.

Transfers Out

At the beginning of the save make sure you select early 2018/19 pre-season in the options as this will make a difference to the game. When we begin this save we will start with £85k for a transfer budget and £3.95k in wages. To increase this amount there are a few things we can do. Firstly, you'll need to go to your clauses section and you have the option to sell two clauses for Sam Gallagher and Jack Stephens. In a few days time, another clause will become available to sell for Sam Gallagher which will give you around £3 million. Alongside this, you'll see below players I have sold which I believe we don't need anymore and can replace with better players. With all this together, you will have £2.75 million as a transfer budget and £11k in wages.

Transfers In

Here is a list of players that you need to sign for your Plymouth Argyle save. These players have been carefully chosen by me to what the team needs to help them push on and reach their targets this season.

Marcelo Djaló - Marcelo adds a tremendous amount to this squad. Our defence definitely needs some improvement and he brings a lot of quality. He instantly becomes our best centre back and for £325k, he is a bargain.

Guirane N'Daw - A great ball winning midfielder on a free transfer. Only demanding about £1.5k in wages. He is at the end of his career but will be an important player for your first season. He is one of two defensive midfielders we're bringing in this season as I feel this is where we lack depth.

Karl Henry - Like Guirane N'Daw, he is at the end of his career but both players will have a big part to play in this team. Use them together and rotate them. Coming in again on a free transfer he is definitely another bargain.

Lewis Wing - Loaned in from Middlesbrough, Lewis Wing becomes your best player in the whole team. His stats are incredible and he is a quality player for any Championship team, so considering we can bring him in is an amazing signing. He will be the key to your midfield and will be a star player for the entire season.

Andre Dozzell - Dozzell is a bit more of a backup Lewis Wing. He has great potential and will be able to fill in for Wing if ever the time comes. Coming in from Ipswich on loan, only taking up £1.8k in wages.

Elliott Frear - Frear will be playing on the left wing for us this season. He will be adding a lot of ability to the left side of midfield with Graham Carey on the right wing. He has a good crossing stat on him which will be helpful for our target man striker and only costing you £230k.

Chuks Aneke - Plymouth this season are very much in need of a decent striker and with limited decent strikers available to sign with the money we have, I had to really look at the best possible strikers we could sign. You can sign Aneke from MK Dons for around £450k and will be your best Striker in the team. He will also add a lot more compared to the strikers we already have at the club. You will need to sign him if you want to succeed this season.

Overview

This save is a very interesting save as you are predicted to finish near the bottom of the table but with the release clauses, you are given so much money for this league, you can probably aim for a much higher position in table. You should find the tactics easy to manage with a variety of players being able to contribute to many different styles of play. Our financial situation is very good after all these transfers so this is a very good save for a long term ambition to which you don't have to climb up the English leagues too far.

Football Manager 2019 - Rotherham United Team Guide

Rotherham United

Predicted to finish at the bottom of the Championship this season, we find ourselves with a difficult challenge for survival. With most of the squad being decent league one players and a few key stars as well, this post will help you deal with your transfers in and out, giving you a good start to your Rotherham United Save.

Transfers Out

Starting the Season off with £100k as a Transfer budget and £2k in wages is always a difficult task, especially when you're predicted to finish at the bottom of the Championship. Well, as you can see from the picture above, i have loaned out three players and sold one. Including these transfers and aiming to avoid a relegation battle, i managed to increase our budgets to £170k and £24k in wages. Furthermore, you also have key players such as Ryan Williams, Will Vaulks and Semi Ajayi that have interest coming in for them which you can decide to accept or decline.

Transfers In

Now that we've made some money, it's time to think about where we are going to invest. Below, i will be listing some key players you need to sign in this save. Some of these players are absolute season changers for Rotherham and will be keys factors in our survival.

Linton Maina - Loaned in for a season from Hannover 96. He will be instantly one of the best players at the club. He will be costing you 1.8k in wages which is a bargain considering he is a key player.

Álex Mula - This one is going to be the most expensive option. Signing him for £1.5 Million from Málaga. He will be playing on the left wing as another key player this season. So you can see straight away that we have great players on the wings which will play a big part in our style of play.

Frederik Nørrestrand - Playing at the right back position at aged 16. You will be able to sign him on a pre contract a few weeks into the save. he has many big clubs interested in him but i have successfully managed to beat them and bring him to Rotherham. He has a great potential and you can decide whether to keep him around or send him out on loan to get some playing experience.

Kuki Zalazar (loan)
Brian Oliván (£475k) - Will become your best left back
Lawrence Shankland (£180k)
Håkon Lorentzen (Free)
Daniel Kvande (£34.5k)
Joe Ledley (Free)

Overview

So, we've managed to sell and buy our players and now it's time to look at how we move ahead. Well, looking at our team, i can see that it would make sense to play a simple wing play system. We now have two really good wingers on both sides with really good back ups and we have a good choice of strikers with two good target men and a very pacey forward. I think this is the best style of play for our team. I believe we need a basic 4-4-2 as we need the simple things done right first.

I would be really interested to hear which saves you have done and please let me know if you'd like to see more. Please click the follow button at the top of the page to keep up with these Football Manager posts.

Football Manager 2019 - Tranmere Rovers Team Guide

Tranmere Rovers

In the 2000/2001 season, Tranmere Rovers were relegated from the Championship in to League one, where they continued to fall down the divisions in the following years. Last season, Tranmere managed to get themselves promoted back to league 2 after playing in the Vanarama National League for three seasons.  Predicted to finish 21st in league 2 this season, we find ourselves battling for survival and to push on ahead, moving back up the football leagues. In this guide i will be showing you the best way to start your save with Tranmere Rovers.

Transfers out

Tranmere are a side that are very much capable of staying up with the squad they have this season. They have plenty of experience including some youth, but we lack the funds to really improve our side, which means that we need to look at our squad and get rid of some players. In the image below you can see who we have sold. This frees up to about 7k in wages which we can reinvest. We also receive interest for James Norwood who you can decide to sell for a good value, although keep in mind that he is a very good player for this league and this team. (Should you decide to keep him.)

Transfers In

Goalkeepers - Adam Legzdins (Loan), Wieger Sietsma (Free), Joe van der Sar (Free)

Defenders - Milan van Ewijk (Free), Jack Simpson (loan)

Midfielders - Aaron Molloy (Free), Lars Gulpen (Free), Jordy ter Borgh (29k)

Strikers - Matt Rhead (20k) Jack Storer (Free), Marcus Barnes (Loan)

Overview

Overall, my favourite picks out of these signings would be Milan van Ewijk. If you do this save you should play him at right back as often as possible, he's 17 years old and isn't far off your best right back. Aaron Molloy is a really good back up player and future prospect with a good passing ability which comes in helpful at League 2 level. If you decide to Sell James Norwood then Matt Rhead is perfect. He is such a good player for this team offering so much. I would even suggest signing him regardless of whether you sell James Norwood.

You should be fine for tactics. Make sure you take advantage of the wings with Harvey Gilmour and Kieron Morris. We also have very good striking options so make the most out of them and use their different abilities. Our defence is solid with some good loan signings such as Sid Nelson who will be a star player for your first season. We also have Liverpool as a senior club so be ready to snatch up any players they decide to put out on loan.

If there is anything i haven't mentioned you'd like to know or if there is another club i can do please let me know.

Top 5 free transfers for Birmingham City

Birmingham City in Football Manager 2019 are not exactly a rich club and unfortunately we’re very limited in our resources to recruit in the summer transfer market. So as expected, we don’t get the nicest of starts to our transfer or wage budget starting out at £0 and £-13.78k p/w.

Tips for making money with Birmingham City
  • Sell Tomasz Kuszczak for some money and gain back £10k in wages
  • Send youth prospects out on loan (few players £500+ in wages)
  • Set your season target to Play-Offs (brings you back to positive figures)
  • Few players such as Che Adams, Harlee Dean and Lukas Jutkiewicz bringing in interest from other clubs
  • Low squad win bonus

5. Joe Ledley

Birmingham are blessed with many players that can play different roles in midfield. This is why i have chosen to put Ledley in at the number 5 spot. He is a well rounded player, that can play in the centre of midfield and a more defensive role. At 31 years old, he still has a few more seasons left in him as a rotational/back up player. As you can see from his stats, he is a very reliable player and only costing less than £4k in wages.

4. Vytautas Andriuskevicius

I'm very glad I have copy and paste for this one! Vytautas Andriuskevicius in my opinion is your best option for a left back for Birmingham. Kristian Pederson is a very good left back and very much your first choice option, so a back up defender is all you really need. He is happy to take a back up role in contract negotiations and is looking at less than £2.5k in wages. At 27 years old, with his stats and low wage demands this is the best option. Don't forget! Chieck Keita and Jonathan Grounds are out on loan for the first season so you'll need a back up player.

3. Eduardo

Well this is a bit of an awkward one. Unfortunately, Eduardo and Birmingham have already met back in 2008 when he received a broken leg, but hopefully he can score 30 goals in a season and we can all forget about it. With Lukas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams leading the line for Blues, and Issac Vassell at the start of the game out for 4-5 months, you think to yourself, what if Lukas or Che get injured? Well, I believe Eduardo is the perfect striker next in line ready to help the team. Eduardo offers something different to our other two strikers. Where we have a Strong Target Man and a pacey advanced forward, we lack the ability upfront to bring the ball down and play it around. His finishing and composure are very nice too!

2. Sejad Salihovic

Salihovic for Birmingham is the ideal candidate we need in midfield. Joe Ledley is a good defensive midfielder, but he isn't a playmaker. Like i said earlier, Blues are blessed with a number of midfielders, but lack a player that can really pass the ball and dictate the play. Looking at his stats above, you can see he has so much to offer in this, 15 in passing, technique, vision and composure is ideal. having him alongside a ball wining midfielder or a box to box midfielder who can do all the running and covering that Salihovic will be lacking. He is also perfect for tutoring a youth prospect so make sure to get him doing that. Finally, having him as a set piece taker will really help your chances at success at free kicks and corners.

1. Pau Morer

Pau Morer is my absolute favourite player to sign for Blues. Birmingham aren't doing bad for wingers at the start of the game with Maghoma and Jota on either side and Che Adams and Connor Mahoney also being able to play there. But, Morer is an ideal winger for any save. Being able to play on the left, down the middle and probably managing to play on the right hand side as well and being either footed is an amazing feature. Scouts are predicting that he will be a leading Championship player, i have no doubt he will be able to compete in the Premier League. He definitely has improving to do, but at less than £5k in wages and time to grow he is a great signing for Blues at the start of your save.

FM19: Why you should sign Lars Gulpen

Lars Gulpen

Hello and welcome to my first blog post. I would like to begin this journey by outlining why you should sign Dutch midfielder Lars Gulpen for your team. I will be talking about his key stats and features and hopefully helping you to your road to glory save. Lars Gulpen in game currently plays for amateur side EHC who is a third division, Dutch football club. He started his career at Fortuna Sittard in 2010 where he would go on to play for them for five years. In 2015, his contract ended and in 2017 he picked up a contract with EHC which is where we can find him. I have been using Gulpen for a few years now on my lower league saves on Football Manager and I have been pleased every time with his contribution. Although not the best player in the world, he does offer a lot at the age of 24 with a lot more to come from him.

Gulpen can play either in the centre of midfield or in his preferred attacking role with room to improve and at 16 passing, 14 technique and 13 for first touch, decisions and off the ball you can't really go wrong. Coming in as a free transfer you only have to pay his wages which will cost you between £900-£1.2k depending on which club you're signing him for. For example, i played as Salford City and managed to pick him up for £1.2k. Obviously Salford City are a team with a much bigger financial backing than the rest of the Vanarama National league. With this backing you could decide to sign Niko Kranjcar who would be an amazing signing for this league but at 33 years old and over 5k in wages, you may think that Lars Gulpen is the better investment as he's cheaper and younger with room to improve and would demand the same contract length

.
Overall, Lars Gulpen is a great choice for a midfielder for a lower league save. If you have enjoyed reading this or have any tips/advice for me i would be happy to hear them. please feel free to email me at -  thejonkyblog@gmail.com.
